Hiya! You know... I've been spending A LOT of time on the internet lately. I pretty much go in to a pitch black room to feed Arlo several times a day/night and I use my phone as a light and as entertainment while I feed the boy... That said, I think I am becoming intimidated to blog. I read these incredibly well written "mom blogs" like  http://momastery.com/blog/ that have so much insight and depth behind them and I just feel sorta silly writing the same ole "we did this, then this" sort of thing. Same ole same ole. I also think of the amazing picture blogs like my friend megan's: http://gowestyoungfamily.com/ who really could be a professional photographer... and heck, I am intimidated...
However,  I do remind myself that this blog isn't for me. It's not for the grandparents and relatives who are the only people on earth that actually DO care when we go to the zoo or something... and it's not for the occasional friend checking in. It is for the boys. MY boys. Silly Cy and Sweet Arlo. I intend to print these out - every single entry ever - so my boys can read what life was like for them and for us parents when they were little.... and I guess that makes me feel ok that there is no drama to be writing about. Heck, if I think about a year ago right now and how I was on bed rest and just absolutely terrified about losing that pregnancy (I shudder to think about it) I welcome the mundane. The zoo postings. The silly updates on our boys. And the simple life when all is well...

and so, without further ado....

We enjoyed an unusually warm January day and ate lunch outside! Even Arlo ate his pureed sweet potatoes outside.

Patrick and I were hurting at the 10am Sesame Street Live show in downtown Minneapolis. We had "gone out" to celebrate our friend's 40th birthday the night before.I use the phrase "going out" very loosely because it is NOTHING like the olden days. We were home by 10pm. Cy AND Arlo were absolutely mesmerized by the show. I say this with sincerity: it was great fun and very sweet. And the state-fair like food didn't hurt either.

Cy is absolutely obsessed with puzzles! It's so funny to have our son beg us to do a puzzle before dinner.
And this one is obsessed with his toes.
Uncle Mike came to Cy's end of the semester "show" at the Little Gym this week.

And so we move on. Next week he starts another semester. Patrick goes to Texas. Grandparents come to help. We go to ski lessons, swim lessons, Little gym and Nursery School. Just another week in our beautifully mundane life.

I couldn't agree more. I also have been getting intimidated by the quality of the mommy blogs I visit. But I have to remind myself that my blog is a diary. Its for our family to remember how things really were. I'm not asking for strangers to follow it. I want to document in real time the events before I forget it all. Plus I do think it's super fun for the Grandparents and far away family.
I love reading your "mundane" blog. I love every minute of it. I feel closer to you guys and I feel blessed to witness the daily grind. I don't need you to be deep or inspirational. I want to see what you are up to...it's the closest thing to being there. Keep it up!

Thanks for the blog shout-out Jill! And I love your blog too! Mundane everyday stuff about someone else's life makes for great reading, as far as I am concerned. It is a great 21st century way to keep up to date with friends. And that January outdoor picnic in MN......well, that was far from run of the mill!!
