beware: super pic heavy post today

Today was picture day at school. I decided to snap a couple of pics when we got home... since Cy was in his finest attire!

So this weekend we went camping!! Well, Arlo & I stayed all day but left at about 9pm and Patrick and Cy spent the night in the tent. It was AWESOME! We were invited by Cy's friend Marin & her dad to join a big group of people at an event called Baker's Boo. It took place out west a bit at Baker's Park on Lake Independence (coincidentally my dad's favorite fishing lake when he comes up here.) The park system put on an awesome kid-friendly event. During the day there were all sorts of games, pumpkin carving, etc. Then everyone went back to their campsites for dinner. After dinner the kids all put on costumes and had a parade! After the parade they all trick or treated. This is not a small campground and they alll hauled in a ton of candy!! And finally there was a magic show to top off the night. Arlo & I left after the magic show. It got down into the forties but Cy and Patrick were toasty warm in their puffy sleeping bags and coats. Cy crashed hard after all the activities and slept straight until 7:30am.

Cy getting ready for the parade. Our decorated tent behind him. Can you see the huge spider!?

Arlo crashed out hard when we got home & mommy got a good night's sleep too!

This pic is from last Friday. Cy & his bestie Campbell had a picnic lunch at a park & ran & ran & ran

Cy told me that morning that he LOVES Campbell... Awwww

Enjoying friends, leaves and pumpkins

There are a few pre-party pics I took of the house all set-up.
The weather called for a chance of showers so we had all the food/drinks in the garage.
Arlo was a little angel during the prep & loved sitting outside watching the leaves blow around. Maybe I'll someday add some party pics too!

On Friday night this weekend I went out to a sushi dinner with a bunch of girlfriends! Patrick, Cy and Arlo went out to Victoria and stayed overnight with the Emmer's. Patrick golfed the next morning and then they all came home. I had so much fun but I missed my boys!

On Sunday we tackled the leaves in the backyard. Patrick filled 14 large paper yard bags (as required by our city) in leaves just from the backyard alone! Arlo & I came out back to check on them and I found them both laying in the pile!

Then we were on to carving pumpkins!

Let's just say we all slept really well last night!

A great October so far!!

hiya! We have been having a fun packed, great October! It still just feels so liberating to be concern-free when it comes to physical activities! My parents were up two weekends ago for Mike's birthday. We went on  lots of walks & enjoyed the weather... I also took advantage of their visit & did a slew of party prep while they were here. It's an amazing feeling to go to a store alone! It seems so easy. During naptime one day I ran to Sam's Club & I bought a ton of soda, chip, etc for our party. As I was unloading a 32-pack of Coke to put into my car, the plastic ripped and the whole thing fell to the ground. A bunch of cans busted & sent soda spraying everywhere. It was a huge sticky mess. And you know what? I just smiled. I chased after some dented, rolling cans. I sopped up some of the mess with an old dog towel... A woman came over & asked if she could help. "No need but thanks" I said with a smile. Instead I thought about how easy this silly little mess was because I was ALONE. :)
Anyways, our "Stop By and Say hi to Cy and Meet Arlo" party was a success. Cy had a BLAST. He was a gracious little host sharing all his toys with the slew of kids. All the guests wanted to hold & feed Arlo (especially Grandma Nan) so I had mostly free hands. And, believe it or not, I just enjoyed myself and took ZERO pics. Crazy, right? For me anyways.
Oh, the major hit of the party was the "Haunted Guest Room" that Cy, Grandma Lynn and I had created downstairs. It was legitimately scary. We went crazy. There were spiders everywhere, bloody hands on the window, a super scary ghost lady who moans and shakes, a body in the bed, snakes, ghosts and a haunted candy dish.
It was great. I said to Patrick that we'll have to do it again in another three years! Because man oh man is it a lot of work!
I think Grandma Nan took some party pics... so maybe we'll have those up soon too. We are now looking foward to a Girls Night Out (Jill), golf for Patrick, weekly mom-and-baby yoga, an overnight camping adventure, a costumed Halloween 5k and some other fun stuff this month! We are a go go go and it feels great great great!

Love Cy in this pic with my parents!
