some before and afters

This morning. Cy's "first day of school" photos. He started "school" today. He goes to a little lutheran church's preschool once a week for 2 hours. Really one of his first times being in a "stranger's" care since the ole gym day care never really panned out (It was like a year ago and I was paged because he was screaming about 4 different times and then gave up.)

It really is like school too. They have a hook with his name on it. They all bring special school bags and they have a little schedule they stick to: Free play. Story. Songs. Art. Gym. Snack. He told me they sang the "Jesus" song we sometimes sing at bedtime. (Jesus Loves Me)

After school! He did great. I think he really liked it. He told me all about the fun things he did. He didn't cry at all. He got a big sticker he was proud of. And he told me that there were a few boys there. One was "naughty" because he pushed him! Cy said he told that boy "No, No!" and so did his teacher Miss Kathy! I was totally fine with that. He needs to start to learn right/wrong and when to tell someone no. I think that other little boy has older bro's and is used to pushing a bit to stay in the game! :)

And, even though I said "stranger care," it really isn't because Miss Kathy is Cy's beloved teacher from music class. We've been going to her class since he was 4 months old. We still go to her music class together on Mondays at the same church as "school."

Down in Wisco we went to "Wagfest" with my parents. Here, Jackson enjoys his second "Puptini." Lush!

Cy loves corn. He loves to eat it like a savage. Just like his dada.

This is the "before" pic of Cy getting his face painted. He wanted to be a clown.

"After" picture #1

"After" pic number 2.
And this is the "super-after" picture number 3. He could hardly keep his eyes open. Face paint was schmeared all over the stroller, my jacket, patrick's pants and my mom. But, he had a great time!

Labor Day weekend fun

Well the Emmer's sure had a fun filled Labor Day weekend. We went on an uptown patio pub crawl with Cy in tow. Here we are at Abilene.

Cy checking out the digs at the new "Cafeteria" restaurant's rooftop. Shortly after this picture was taken he told me "Mamahun, I have poop!" So we headed to their main bathroom only to find that Uptown's trendiest new bar/restaurant doesn't have changing tables. So little Cy bared all on the bathroom floor (I told him we were "urban camping" - this was after a couple of beers mind you) and changed him while all the hipsters walked by in their mini-dresses and over-the-knee boots.

Cy and his mamahun with the skyline behind us. Last stop on the crawl.
Bedtime for all three of us!
Patrick started off Labor Day on the right foot... a footlong hotdog at 10am at the MN State Fair

State Fair's poultry tent

Eatin' more junk. Katie, this pic is for you. Cy is eating a "frickle." Two pickles, cream cheese schmeared inbetween, breaded and then fried. Oh, then you dip them in ranch to eat. Katie swore by these - and she was right! My fav snack at the fair. A day hasn't gone by since when I haven't wanted another one. Kinda like a pickley won ton but beer battered.

It was pure joy to discover that our boy LOVES rides!!! yay! Just like his mama and exact opposite of his dada. Once discovered, there was no stopping him!

This one had a bar that you push/pull to go up and down. Cy had the controls and rocked our bee. I bet that bee had his best work out of the whole fair with us. Up. Down. Up. Down. I heard parents snickering on the sideline. I think they felt bad for me like I was going to get sick. But hellno. I LOVED it! That's my boy!

Sky ride (gondola) In my opinion, the scariest ride of the whole fair. Old. high. slow. yuck. Cy LOVED it.

Patrick n Cy on the ship ride. Patrick looked ill and miserable and tried hard to make it seem fun. And Cy legitimately had fun (for the most part)

He asked me to ride in the back seat of another dune buggy thingy he was fake driving. When I got in, I asked him "where are we going?" He told me we were going to Starbucks for a hot coffee. Gotta love a little urban baby on a dune buggy!

Cy at the zoo a few days later

Cy n Campbell in a Woolly Mammoth ribcage
See below for pics from Jill n Patrick's Jackson trip!

Our trip to Jackson

"Pillow pic" taken from my bed. such a good view!
I decided to get a "blow out" for the wedding. The girl was certifiably nuts. Seriously. And so was what she did to my hair. I took a shower before the wedding. This pic makes it look a lot tamer than it was. It was like an 80's prom 'do... which might have been fun in an urban wedding, but not in a semi-hippy outdoors outwest wedding!

The "wedding party." See the hair-challenged guy second from the right? He was the ring bearer! Funniest (and oldest) ring bearer I've ever seen!

Bridesmaids (minus one) and flower girl

This is where Patrick and I slept the night of the wedding so we wouldn't have to drive back to our hotel. We slept on the table that converted to a bed in-between two guy friends who slept in the "wings." Made me want a trailer! They headed to Yellowstone the next day in it. Oh, and Patrick took his shoes off the night before & left them outside (so not to dirty the trailer) and it poured rain in the early morning!

Natural hotsprings... with friends from NYC, Portland and Chicago
Jono tending bar (at his job) the day after his wedding! Which also happened to be his birthday!
A picture of the world's nicest condo which we somehow scored.... I thought someone called and upgraded us or something but it turns out their rates were just really low because they were all condos meant to be sold and now in dire need of cash (we could relate!)
Very top of the tram at Jackson Hole. It snowed!

Great Grandpa Cy and Uncle Jim

Back home, helping "Mommy" pack. He picked that up from Megan & Eleanor & now he calls me "Mommy."

So we are back from our 10 days vacation at the lake and then a 5 day Patrick and Jill get-away to Jackson, WY. Our friend Jono got married out there. I have lots and lots of pictures. I'm going to post the ole cabin pix first. Since it's 65 degrees out right now I already feel nostalgic for the summer! Boy that went fast!
