hello and goodbye

Hiya!
We are once again busy as usual! Tomorrow we leave for the cabin! Cy and I will be up there for 10 days! (Patrick will be back here though - so if you are a burglar - forget it - our place is occupied!)
Today Grandma Nan came over and took care of Cy while I went to te gym and got a good sweat in. Sit-ups are killer these days. I feel like such a wimp! Slowly but surely though, eh?
And now we are busy packing and cleaning. We are having an open house while we are gone so our pad needs to be spotless. Good luck. Between the dog and baby there is no way. But we will put in a good effort!
And yesterday Cy & I drove out to Victoria (if anyone reading this has any tips on keeping a kid from crying in the car let me know. Apparently Cy doesn't like his car seat anymore! It took me two plus hours to get home because I had to keep pulling over. Ouch) Out in Victoria there was an Emmer Luncheon at the Emmer house. Cy got to meet his great-aunts and cousins! He also got meet baby Michael who was born one week after him. They are second cousins. We hope to hang out more! It was nice. The ice cream cake for dessert was especially yummy and impossible to resist.
You know, we just got back from walking the dog and there is definitely a tinge of fall in the air. Makes me think my glorious "summer of baby" is coming to an end. By the time we get back it will September. Wow. We are just waiting now for Cy's 3 new friends to arrive. They are all due to be born in the next week or two!
Another thing I was thinking about: one year ago on Labor Day was the day I found out I was pregnant. My things change! Cy is sitting on my lap in his Bjorn as I write this - he is sputtering away. I caught him on video today chatting up a storm and trying to crawl. As soon as I can figure out how to put the vid online - you will crack up when you see it!
Happy Labor Day folks. See you in Sept!!
XOXO

pic from pasta night

Last night we went to the Emmer's house in Victoria & learned how to make authentic pasta sauce from scratch. It was a lot of fun! The Emmer's friends from church - Stellina, Greg & Lydia were all from Italy & came over to teach us. Looking forward to next year!

BLOG BY PATRICK

Here is a picture of Cy with his friend Cary Duggan who came to town from San Francisco through Canada. Cy had a good weekend hanging out with Uncle Charlie (Broyles) on Saturday and then he went to his first music festival! Grandpa and Grama Cherwenka were in town for one day so we found a shady spot near the main stage at Irish fest on Harriet Island in St. Paul...he got a new Irish onesie that will likely appear on this website in the near future.

This week he is excited to go to Grandpa Jim and Nan's house Thursday for dinner and Pasta Sauce jarring night...then the Emmer's are coming to babysit him for the first time on Saturday while daddy plays in a golf tourney and mommy hangs out with her friends.

Lake Calhoun Photo Shoot

Cy & I chilled out at Lake Calhoun today. Took some silly pics. He's napping now after a long day. We walked over 4 miles, had lunch with Kat, shopped and spent the whole day strolling around. Whew!
Here's a wierd one for you. This morning at 6:30am Patrick went out to his car to leave for work & noticed that a couple of his hubcaps were missing. One was still on his car, one was laying in the grass next to the car and the other two were totally gone. When Cy and I got home from our adventures today around 4pm, the other two hub caps were lying in the grass next to the street right where the car had been parked. They were definitely not there earlier! Someone returned them... hmmm.....

Lots of activities

Hi World!

We have been keeping ourselves busy with lots of fun activities! On Friday night Patrick stayed home with Cy and I went out with the girls to celebrate Katie's birthday. It was great fun and Patrick said everything went smoothly at home too. He was home with Cy from 6pm till 1am and then woke up to do the 6am feeding -- not bad for a first time dad, eh?

On Saturday we took Cy to the beach for the first time. I dunked his toes into the water and his body went stiff as a board. Maybe next time we will make it to his knees! Then we took Cy to an adult party - a baby shower for the Faz's.

And on Sunday we took Cy to the Uptown Art Fair which is a great street fair only a few blocks from our house! Everyone was smiling at him. Gosh, I never realized how much people love babies!

Today Cy & I are going to go meet Julie & her two little girls for lunch... Alexis and Hailey. Cy is a total ladies man! The girls love him.

The little man is smiley, happy and doing great! Eats his fist. Drools a lot. Goo's and Gaaa's all the time. This stage is great. He is content being on his own for a few minutes here and there which is all I need to be able to run to the bathroom or whatever without him screaming! The best part is that lately he has been going to bed at 10pm and getting up at 6am! So mommy is happy too. Now I just need to fit back into my old jeans and we will be all good. I am soooo close!
